It started life as an unissued Finnish M39 (I already know what the purists out there will say ) The receiver date is from 1928, and the Finns rebarreled it in 1942. I picked the M39, mostly because it has a slightly thicker barrel. It was too cost prohibitive to rebarrel with a brand new barrel profiled, chambered, and cut for a Mosin. And yes, it's still a 7.62x54R rifle!

Some details:
-The stock is from Richard's Microfit stocks (http://www.Rifle-stocks.com) It's a "Prone Syle-Target Culbertson", in Irish Moss laminate. It originally had a machined in cheekrest, but I removed that to install the adjustable instead. I finished it with Spar Varnish (as in boat spars), sprayed with a satin enamel topcoat to manage shine. Really durable results so far!

-The action is both pillar and epoxy bedded and the barrel is completely free floating from the chamber forward. It was my first bedding job, and I don't think the Mosin is as easy to do as, say, a Rem700. But, it is possible! The receiver/barrel were blasted then parkerized and sprayed with a moly finish (done by AZEX.) Also, in the process, the rear sight base was removed to give more clearance for the scope. I left the front sight on because, well, it looks cool. (that and it would have been a pain to get off)

-The bolt handle was custom formed by J. Robert (aka the "Boltman") and threaded for the Badger Ordnance knob that is on it. He does some great work! Having that extended handle and knob makes cycling that Mosin so much sweeter!

-To reduce lock time, I removed the safety knob portion at the rear of the bolt. All surfaces were polished and smoothed, and the bolt was professionally hot blued.

-In order to still have some sort of safety, I created a type of 'trigger block' safety in the trigger guard. I think you can see it pretty well in one of the pics. I think I used some surplus SKS parts to put it together. Not super pretty, but very functional.

-The flash hider is from Yankee Hill Machine, can't remember which model. I threaded the muzzle myself, which wasn't as difficult as I anticipated.

-The scope mount is from RockSolid Industries (http://www.rocksolidind.com). It is by far the BEST Mosin scope mount in terms of quality and stability. The scope is a Millett TRS 4-16X. Awesome scope for under $300!

-Front and rear Uncle Mike sling swivels. Harris bipod at the front.

-It ended up being a little heavier than your average Mosin, but that makes it a lot nicer to shoot, especially with the comfortable buttpad.

ich nicht, da mir für so ein projekt alles fehlen würde - hab einen kurzen M44 und für sowas brauchst an langen nagant 91/30 - wenn möglich mit an neuen Lauf
